Body Is a Temple? | Part 1: Starting Again

Bible, water bottle, sneakers, representing faith and a commitment to physical wellness.

There are many things I used to do/participate in that have since ceased. Some by force, conviction, sheer determination, and pride.

I’m learning more and more each day that not taking part in certain sins/behaviours does not make you a better Christian/person than anyone else. It can make you a better version of yourself, though, and that’s a personal win, not something to be “self-righteous” about. But yannoo… I’ll need more time for that topic. For today, though, I think the same thing applies to the things we choose to change about ourselves physically.

I have been on and off with my eating habits, active fitness, stretching, and the like. I’m not a very consistent person (very SOMETIMEY). I get bored, I get busy, sometimes I don’t even want to try.

Today is the 30th day of August 2026, and while it feels like the month of August has been dragginggggg along, I’ve started and stopped my lifestyle change about four times this year. Long story short, I’ll share some goals with you:

  1. Stretch daily.
  2. Lose 85 pounds.
  3. Hit my daily water goals.
  4. Have my knees not hurt/crunch anymore 🥲

There’s a lot more I can add, but these four are attainable, and I know my journey won’t look like anyone else’s. There will always be a critic, and sometimes I’m my biggest hater.

I’m no stranger to falling off or taking a break to go on vacation and stretching it for a week or two 🥴

Maybe later on I’ll share what I eat and why. But for now, I’ll just say I’m doing SOMETHING. I do owe myself discipline and grace while I aim to transform and maintain. I’ll do what works for me, and hopefully at some point, I’ll make the time to share that process.

Consider this a pop-in. Life has been life-ing, ebbing and flowing. I’m still here, so are you. I’d like to think we’re all doing our best to (at minimum) stay afloat. I’m rooting for you!

There will have to be multiple follow-ups on this topic, as it is quite broad on purpose. Let’s look forward to those! I’ll check in again soon.

P.S. Inviting God into your fitness journey and expressing a desire to honour Him with your body and treat it as a temple is a mighty good start. He knows you’re not perfect; He knows how you get when it comes to your favourite dessert, but it never hurts to seek Him first about your journey. That reminds me, I need to recommit to this journey and ask Him to walk alongside me… AGAIN.
